An Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) is designed to provide high-end power
protection of business workstations and stand-alone computers. The UPS
automatically corrects for brownouts and over voltage conditions without
using the battery thereby preserving battery power for times when it's
really needed. Many have built-in fax/modem or network data line protection
which prevents surges traveling on phone or network lines from entering the
computer and destroying the modem or Network Interface Card. Additional features
such as a fast recharge time, hot-swappable batteries, bi-weekly auto-diagnostic
testing and compatible manufacturer supplied software makes -UPS backup essential
for workstations and other business computers
